1. How does it work?

When arriving on the day of your tour, all you need to bring with you is a towel and swimwear for under your wetsuit. Once you have arrived at our base we will look after the rest. All equipment is provided including wetsuits, helmets, shoes and PFD’s. Once you have changed we will take a 10-minute shuttle up to the ‘get in’ point above  Lucan where we start our paddling adventure. Four weirs, numerous rapids and beautiful scenery awaits.

2. Do you have changing facilities?

We have complete on site changing facilities including hot showers.

3. What is the minimum age for participants?

The minimum age for active participants on our classic trip is 12 years old. Our looped trips are suited to families with younger participants as low as 8 years old. The minimum age for tubing activities is 8 years old with an adult participating in the activity or 12 years old with an adult present on the riverbank. U16s must be supervised on the premises at all times.

4. How long is the trip?

Our Classic trip can take up to 2 hours but is shorter during the winter months at higher river levels.
Looped trips typically last approximately 1-1.5 hours.

5. Do we get our own guide?

Each raft is accompanied by one of our highly experienced guides. Your guide will be on board with you in the 7 person rafts. Our smaller 2 and 4 person rafts are accompanied by a guide in a kayak.

6. Will I get wet?

Your feet will definitely get wet. After that, the only reason you will get wet is if you choose to jump into the water or if there is mutiny on the ship.

7. How many people can a raft take?

We have 7 person rafts, 4 person rafts and two person rafts. If you choose to do tubing you will have your own individual tubes.

8. What is your cancellation policy?

We require 48 hours’ notice to receive a full refund. After this time 50% of the cost is retained.

9. Who can go rafting?

Rafting is a very inclusive activity where everyone can take part. It is a physical activity so a moderate level of fitness is recommended.

10. Does the raft flip/capsize?

While it is possible for our rafts to flip it is extremely unlikely. Your raft guide will explain what to do in the event of a raft flip during the safety briefing at the beginning of your trip.

11. What do I need to bring with me?

We have almost everything you will need to take with you. All you need to bring is a towel and something to wear underneath a wetsuit. We do have river shoes on site for use but if you would feel more comfortable wearing an old pair of runners, you are welcome to do so. Please note these shoes will definitely get wet. No open toe shoes.

12. What is the river flow like?

The river Liffey is a dam controlled river. This means that water levels can fluctuate based on both dam releases and weather conditions. Summertime flow rates are generally low leading to cruisy, comfortable raft trips. During winter river flow rates are fairly high. These are the perfect conditions for adrenaline inducing white water.

13. How do we book?

You can book and pay via our website.  We have a secure portal for our bookings and our consent form is online to reduce our impact on the environment.
Please note; Rafting.ie reserves the right to refuse a participant take part in activities should it deem necessary to do so. This includes participants not complying with safety rules and advise or who is deemed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. No refunds will be given under these circumstances .

14. Do I need to be able to swim?

You don’t need to be able to swim to go rafting but being comfortable in the water will help you enjoy your trip.
