FAQ

1. How does it work?

When arriving on the day of your activity, all you need to bring with you is a towel, swimwear for under your wetsuit and shoes, which are going to get wet in the raft. Once you have arrived at our base we will look after the rest. All equipment is provided for the Classic and Looped trips including wetsuits, helmets and PFD’s. A helmet and PDF are provided for Tubing and Raft rentals.
For the Classic trip, once you have changed we will take a 10-minute shuttle up to the
‘get in’ point above  Lucan where we start our rafting adventure.

2. Do you have changing facilities?

We have complete on site changing facilities including hot showers.

3. What is the minimum age for participants?

The minimum age for active participants on our classic trip is 12 years old but we can accommodate younger kids as non-paddling participants.  Our looped trips are suited to families with younger participants as low as 8 years old. The minimum age for tubing activities is 12 years old with an adult present on the riverbank. U16s must be supervised on the premises at all times.

4. How long is the trip?

Our Classic trip can take up to 2 hours but is shorter during the winter months at higher river levels.
Looped trips typically last approximately 1-1.5 hours.

5. Do we get our own guide?

Each raft is accompanied by one of our highly experienced guides. Your guide will be on board with you in the 7 person rafts. Our smaller 2 and 4 person rafts are accompanied by a guide in a kayak.

6. Will I get wet?

Your feet will definitely get wet. After that, the only reason you will get wet is if you choose to jump into the water or if there is mutiny on the ship.

7. How many people can a raft take?

We have 7 person rafts, 4 person rafts and two person rafts. If you choose to do tubing you will have your own individual tubes.

8. What is your cancellation policy?

For any cancellations received up to 5 working days prior to your trip, we can offer a full refund or reschedule to a later date. Cancellations received within 5 working days of your trip are not eligible for refunds or date amendments as rafts have been allocated and staff rostered. Rafting is a very inclusive activity where everyone can take part. It is a physical activity so a moderate level of fitness is recommended.

While it is possible for our rafts to flip it is extremely unlikely. Your raft guide will explain what to do in the event of a raft flip during the safety briefing at the beginning of your trip.

11. What do I need to bring with me?

We have almost everything you will need. All equipment is provided for Classic and Looped Trips including wetsuits, helmets and PFD’s. All you need to bring is a towel, something to wear underneath a wetsuit and shoes, that you won’t mind getting wet. We would suggest and old pair of runners and please note no open toe shoes are allowed.

For Tubing and Raft rentals a helmet and PDF are provided. Wetsuits are not provided but are available for rental if desired. We recommend that you were comfortable clothing and bring spare shoes as your feet may get wet.

12. What is the river flow like?

The river Liffey is a dam controlled river. This means that water levels can fluctuate based on both dam releases and weather conditions. Summertime flow rates are generally low leading to cruisy, comfortable raft trips. During winter river flow rates are fairly high. These are the perfect conditions for adrenaline inducing white water.
